Television Reporting
These are some of my favorite packages of the eleven I've done for NCC News. I shot these using a Canon XF 7500 video camera and edited them with Adobe Premiere.
Syracuse Boxing Gym Puts Local Children on the Right Path
This is about a boxing gym that focuses on wholistic development for children and teenagers and directs them away from a life of crime. The man who runs it, Curtis Chaplin, has basically turned it into an after school program where kids can do homework, play board games, and exercise. I was drawn to this story because I'm inspired by how one person can make such a huge difference in dozens of kids lives and therefore make the city a better place.
Clifford Ryan leads a grassroots movement against violence
This story is about a local man, Clifford Ryan, who does whatever he can to steer people away from violence, including speaking to children, teaching peaceful conflict-resolution strategies, and direct intervention in violent conflicts. Ryan also makes sure all victims of gun violence are remembered and honored. I decided to cover his story because he's a central figure in the community and most locals don't know how much he does.
Syracuse's First Share the Warmth Coat Drive is Underway
This story is about a Syracuse-area clothing drive that took place during the holiday season. I wanted to get the word out on this because it's a great cause and people should know how they can give during this time of year.
Syracuse University Students Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos
This is a live hit and package I did for NCC News about the Mexican holiday Dia De Los Muertos. I picked this story because I think it's great to educate people about other cultures, dispel misconceptions, and explain what can be done to support it.
